Project

This is the current project Jerry is working on. He loves his job and says if he didn't like us so much, he would never come home. We are glad we are liked! We are grateful for the job he has and for all he does to provide for our little family.

Five Months Old

Everyone says my kids all look alike so I thought it would be fun to post a picture of them all at the same age. Avery top, Lauren in the middle with Papa and Landon. You can definitely tell they are related. Avery is 5 months old now and is such a joy. She is so happy and smiles continually without prompting. She is slobbering a lot and sucks on her fingers constantly. She is playing with toys and learning to hold them better. She is actually trying to look at what she holds. She hasn't been rolling much but is definitely using her feet to push and is wiggling. She loves her Dad and he loves to see her when he comes home from work. We are so glad she is in our home!

Grand America

For those of you who have not been to this amazing hotel, I cannot say enough good about it. We had several major events this weekend.....

1. I drove to SLC by myself with all three kids. We had to make one stop but other than that, things went relatively well. A huge accomplishment for me.

2. Lindsay and I finished at least ONE conversation. I spent the whole day with her and I think we may have actually completed a conversation. I love being with her and talk incessantly, we just never have enough time to cover everything.

3. Rod and Shelby came down from Shelley to stay with us and help with the kids. We dined at the downtown Olive Garden (Jerry and I ate there shortly before we got married while stranded with car trouble in SLC) and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the company (Andrew a classmate from the burg and also co-worker of Jerry's). Uncle Rod proved again he is their "favorite uncle" by bringing Landon a monster truck and Lauren and Brooklyn a Dora van. They have not stopped playing with them yet.

4. We stayed and ate at the Grand America which is like the nicest place ever. The food is amazing.....we had prime rib for "brunch". Jerry and Andrew thought this was pretty sweet. Amber also joined us which enhanced the trip greatly and even spent time with the kids and I which included cleaning up a chocolate ice cream cone that Landon dropped on the ground at Hagen Daas (sp?) and also an early morning shopping trip to a Smith's grocery store with an escalator. Great times. We also found out if you walk around the lobby you are offered bottled water and warm chocolate chip cookies and oh yeah, around 6pm they come and turn down your bed and bring you a box of really good chocolates AND the maids dress in REAL maid outfits the black ones with the white aprons. Jerry thought this was pretty cool.

5. It was confirmed that Jacobsen is an amazing company and provides their employees with great perks. The brunch, breakfast and hotel accommodations were fabulous. We also received a gift basket in our room full of all sorts of goodies. Jerry is doing so well and I was so pleased to hear about his work and accomplishments.

6. Shelby and Rod went to the sad ending of the Lakers and Jazz game. The Lakers were staying at our hotel. Shelby meets and poses for a photo with Zeek from High School Musical while waiting in the lobby to meet the Lakers who never came back after the game.

7. Kevin, Brooklyn and Britton swim in the most amazing outdoor pool and somehow Britton doesn't climb off the stairs and drown. He actually just stays there and after swallowing water because he goes down too far, climbs back up. Amazing.

8. Landon and Lauren jump into the pool without any swim aides....obviously, Mom was not there. Jerry confesses he could "live" in the locker room at the GA. Apparently there was fresh fruit and water with lemons and cucumber. What more could you ask for?

9. We have a great afternoon with Brent and Jill watching really funny made up news shows and eating brisket. They are the best friends and highly entertaining.

Triathalon

 

We have been looking forward to this weekend for months. Kevin and Lindsay competed in a triathalon here on Saturday. They are both great athletes and an inspiration to us all! My parents came down to help and support as well. We had a great time with them. They both did really well although they were not able to compete in the swim because of the wind. Dad and Jerry went and supported them while Mother and I watched the kids at home. The girls went shopping on Saturday and then everyone went swimming at the hotel. Jerry cooked an amazing meal on the grill and also an awesome breakfast on Mother's day. Dad got us all roses which was really sweet. I got to keep them all and enjoy them. Jerry and Kevin also did well. We are so glad they came and enjoyed spending time with the kids. It was an added bonus to be with my Mom and Mother's day. She also participated in my lesson for YW because it was on temples and she is a temple worker. Thanks Mom! Landon participated in his first Primary program. He had his shoes off and we were almost on the back row so he was a little late getting up there. The music started when he was almost to the podium and he turned around and said, "dang it" and shrugged his arm. We were all in the back laughing so hard. A member of the bishopric encouraged him to still come up and sing. He did great. My parents stayed last night and left this morning to go and visit some friends in California. We played cards last night and Mother was very happy to end in a "tie" with Jerry. They are both so competitive. We loved having them here.

Lauren's Birthday

Lauren is three years old! She was so happy today and LOVED all the attention she got. We had a party at the park with some of our friends. There was some drama when I showed up at the park I had planned the party at the a guy told me he was waiting for one hundred second graders to show up! After some tears were shed (thank goodness for sunglasses) I called Jerry who immediately came up with a solution. We moved the party to a different park. It's amazing what a rational husband can do when you are feeling so irrational! The party actually turned out great. Thanks to all her friends who came and made it so much fun. Jerry came and brought a few guys from work along with the pizza. He helped me make and decorate some cupcakes the night before. Lauren hiked around with at least two in her hand the whole time. The weather was nice and the kids enjoyed playing and "hiking" up in the rocks. We spent the afternoon playing with Lauren's new toys. She got a balloon boquet from Mimi and Poppy and talked to her Grandma's on the phone. Daddy came home from work and took Lauren to Wendy's to pick up the dinner she requested....nuggets. She got a Leapster learning toy (just like Landon's) which she was very excited about. At the end of the day, I asked Lauren what her favorite part of the day was, she said," When my Daddy came home." She really loves her Dad.

Park City

This is a weekend I look forward to all year. My friends and I from high school get together and spend a weekend in Park City. We had so much fun. This year Jerry and the kids came and stayed with Clyde and Jeannette Barson. They are wonderful hosts and Jerry got to spend time with Brent because Jill and I were together. I am not sure who had more fun but Jerry loves the Barson's and can't wait to go back again really soon! We left Friday morning and met up with Natalee and Roz in Sugarhouse. Nat and I shopped at Nordstrom Rack and had a great time. Avery was with us and did really well. We met Kristy, Andria and Roz at the Mexican Cantina in Park City for dinner. This has been a tradition for us. We went back to the condo and got all settled. Rachel, Jill and Mandy all came up later that night. Nat brought some magazines which provided hours of endless entertainment and we spent the night visiting. We all stayed up a little too late and apparently those who were still awake at around 3 am got a visit from Andria's friend (who is a boy, not to be confused with a boyfriend :>). Brigit came the next morning and we we hit the Tanger Outlets. Avery and I took the afternoon off to take a nap at the condo. Roz and Grant ended up going home that afternoon because Roz wasn't feeling well. We missed her! We had dinner and went to the movie that night (a first for Avery...she did really well in the theater.) Jill, Nat and I went to bed while the other crazy girls went out for a night on the town. Jill took Avery and I back to Springville the next morning to meet up with Jerry. We had an awesome weekend and I really appreciate everyone who organized the housing and put it all together. It is a wonderful blessing to have such great friends!

Softball

I haven't been very supportive of the whole softball season but I did manage to make it to the last regular season game and they won one of their two games AND the important this is I got to take a picture for documentation. Besides the "slide" injury I think Jerry has had fun.
