Avery

This is Avery's new step. Grandma introduced it to her and she loves it. She is such a fun little girl.....busy and a little tornado but fun....

Kids

Lauren leans over to me at church and says, "Kathryn, your hair looks weird!"

Landon bursts into tears yesterday and says, "Mom, you didn't even send me a drink in my lunch today!" (talk about feeling bad as a mom, things were so chaotic that morning--poor kid)

Avery is now saying uh-uh when not wanting to do things. She also used the sign language for "more" to let my Mom know she wanted to continue to be thrown up in the air with a graceful landing on the bed.

I love my kids and the funny things they do and say.

Country Boy

Landon loves to play the guitar and sing with Grandpa. I love hearing him sing and hope he can carry on his Grandpa's tradition and love for music.

Happy Birthday Jerry

It was Jerry's birthday today. He and I were able to go to Red Robin for lunch thanks to Grandma and Grandpa. It was nice to be together and not have to worry about the kiddos. He has been really stressed at work so I think it was a good break for him. We got a babysitter and went to dinner with my parents. Jerry chose the Olive Garden and we had a really nice meal. Then we went to Tuachan and saw ,"Joseph, a Nashville Tribute." It was really well done. I was particularly touched by a segment where they had the girl who played Emma Smith in the "Emma" movie come and sing a song. It helped to strengthen my testimony of her and all she did to help with the restoration of the gospel. We met our friends the Rogers' there and enjoyed visiting with them. The music and company were great. We came home and enjoyed pie. The kids had fun making cards for their Dad and giving him gifts. We LOVE you Jerry!

Lost

I had a scary experience today. I took the kids to Hidden Valley Park since Grandma and Grandpa were at the temple. This week is spring break so we have no other activities going on. The kids were playing and everything was great until I realized I couldn't find Landon. I had some friends there so they watched the girls while I looked for him. It was St Patrick's day so almost every kid was in a green shirt. This did not help. I saw a child who had climbed up to the top of a very big hill behind the park but I called to him and he wouldn't come down, plus Landon had on jeans and this boy had on brown pants. I checked the bathrooms and every place I could think and then started to panic. I just felt like I wanted to cry. My friend Jill came to help me look and I ended up back at the hill. I finally realized the kid with the brown pants was Landon. I was so relieved and felt like my prayers had been answered. One of my biggest fears and worries is that something will happen to my kids. In fact, I think I spend too much time worrying about it but I am grateful I found him and he was OK. I never expected he would wander off and climb up so high because he has never done that before. Next time he disappears, I know where to look.

Softball

Jerry had started playing softball again on Monday nights. The thing with softball here is the season never ends. It is an ongoing season that takes small, occasional breaks. We are getting used to it and having FHE on Sundays for the time being. The bonus of this season is Grandma comes and sits with Avery so I actually get to watch a little of the game. They are actually winning this season as well so things are looking up.

Britton

This is poor little Britton in time out at church. Kevin sent me a text calling this the best time out chair ever. Not a bad idea......

Cute Kids

Kites

One of our favorite seasons is here. We went to Highland Park last night to fly kites. We didn't quite have the right wind but we still had fun. We took Subway sandwiches and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather here. My Mom and I went shopping for a few hours today and had a great time finding books at the Deseret Industries. We were both happy at the end of our spree. It is so fun having my parents here.

Fifteen Months Old

Avery is 15 months old! She had her fifteen month check up yesterday and the doctor said she is doing really well. She weighs twenty one pounds now. She is not walking yet but close. The doctor said he doesn't worry until 18 months but I think she will walk soon. She walks along the furniture and stands alone when she is done but hurries and sits down as soon as she realizes what she is doing. She is developing her own little attitude and lets you know when she doesn't like something. She does sign language for "more" which is really cute and is starting to say other words. She still LOVES the stairs more than anything and is developing a toilet obsession. We are constantly shutting doors and she is consistently expressing her displeasure. She is eating well although she seems to be more picky than my older two. She is not great with vegetables but we will keep trying. She is in a hard phase with naps because she needs two and wants to take one so everyday is a challenge. I will be happy when she is just taking one which I think will happen soon. She loves the swings at the park and loves to be outside. She has a stuffed monkey she likes now along with her little stuffed piggy and her blanket which she LOVES. She is a wonderful baby and at such a fun stage.

Company

We had some surprise company last night. Uncle Boyd and Aunt Sherri came from Nibley to see their family down here and friends. It was fun to spend time with them and catch up on their growing family. My Mom and I attended a relief society dinner for our ward last night. They always work hard to make everything so nice. We have a great ward.

Lauren

I dropped Lauren off at a birthday party today. She said, "Peace out Mom" after I gave her a hug and said goodbye. The other Mom's got a great laugh. I think we can blame her Dad for teaching her that. She has also been saying the prayer by praying for each thing three times so if you are on her prayer list, expect triple blessings.

Glasses

Pioneer Park

We found a great park to take the kids to so they can rock climb. We went to In and Out with the Bingham's so Grandpa could pay up a bet he owed Jerry. Then we headed to the park. The kids had great time climbing with their Dad. Unfortunately I didn't realize I needed to wear tennis shoes so I wasn't the best hiker. Jerry was a great sport and took the kids while I went on a drive with my parents. They were checking out all the other trailer parks in the area to make sure they are getting the best deal. Grandpa like to explore ALL his options thoroughly.

Update

I can't believe another week is almost through! The big news of the week is that Landon is getting glasses. When I took him to the pediatrician last week he said I should take him to an eye doctor. I took him yesterday and found out he has astigmatism. His vision is a little blurry because of it and the glasses will help to correct that and help him to see clearly. I got him fit for his glasses when we were there and he looks so cute. I am trying to be very positive and excited for him so he will be excited and happy to wear them. Thank goodness we have a flexible spending account with our insurance for medical expenditures. We are sure going to max it out this year. My Mom and Dad got back from another trip on Tuesday. My Dad went to Nashville with Dave and my Mom went up to Idaho to watch Brenn wrestle in the state wrestling tournament. Brenn did really well. The weather is warming up and they kids love being outside. We have had some American Idol watching sessions this week and Jerry has got me caught up on who is in the running. I am always as young women's so I don't usually get to watch. I also went to book club. We read "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. I am so glad I am involved in the book club so I have the motivation to read at least one book from start to finish during the month. I am always reading parenting books and church materials but rarely make it to anything else. I am reminded though that I really love to read and someday will have a bit more time to do so.
